Life
The English actress Keira Knightely was born to London based playwright Sharman McDonald and actor Will Knightley in 1985.
She attended her school and college in Richmond. At the young age of six, she felt prey to dyslexia; despite that she labored hard at school and acquired a talent agent for herself.
From her childhood onwards, she had taken part in quite a few local amateur programs where she got to show her acting talent and single minded dedication towards the profession.
Career
She first appeared on TV in 1993 as Little Girl in the film Royal Celebration. Since then, she featured in movies such as Innocent Lies in 1995, The Treasure Seekers in 1996 and Oliver Twist in 1999. The decade of 1990 saw her appearing in numerous TV films eventually culminating in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace of 1999.
2001 ushered her into stardom with Walt Disney Productions movie Princess of Thieves. The role required her to be an expert archer, sword fighter and horse rider; for which she trained herself adequately. Alongside, she was appearing in movies like ‘The Hole’, ‘Pure’ and highly rated Doctor Zhivago’s adaptation.
She achieved breakthrough with the football centric movie ‘Bend it like Beckham’ of 2002 which went on to gross millions at box office. She starred in the high profile Pirates of the Caribbean series movie’ The Curse of the Black Pearl’ in 2003 which was an instant success with cine goers.
The roles cemented her profile as the new sensation in the English movie world. She acted in classics such as ‘Love actually’, ‘King Arthur’. Her journey of hits and flops continued in the following years and her fame brought her considerable media attention.
Her acting skills have been criticized several times, although she has overcome every challenge that confronted her. ‘Pride & Prejudice’ role brought her Golden Globe and Oscar nomination. Her biggest commercial success till date is 2006 flick Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
Relationships
Keira hooked up with actor Jamie Dornan in 2003, but separated in 2005. From 2005 till late 2010, Rupert Friend of Pride and Prejudice cast dated her. She has been seen dating James Righton of late. Rumors that she was anorexic did rounds until she received a settlement from Daily Mail over an alleged anorexia news.
