Scarlett Johansson has carved out a niche for herself in the long list of illustrious hot Hollywood actresses by virtue of her sparkling acting career and enviable nominations at Golden Globe and elsewhere.

Glimpses of her life

She was born to Danish architect father and Jewish producer mother in the 1984 in New York. Her childhood days were spent in mild poverty. After completing her elementary school, she embarked on honing her acting skills at Manhattan’s Professional Children’s School, from where she graduated.

Acting career

Scarlett started her career pretty early in 1994s movie ‘North’ when she was just nine. The years 1995 and 1996 saw her portraying minor roles ‘Just Cause’ and ‘If Lucy fell’. Her charm worked wonders for the 1996 film ‘Manny & Lo’ which brought her good reviews and few nominations.

The 1998 movie ‘The Horse Whisperer’ brought her considerable laurels. Her journey in Hollywood continue in the following years and went on to bag ‘The Toronto Film Critics Association Awards for Best Supporting Actress’ in 2001 for sensitive portrayal in the film’ Ghost World’.

In 2003, she portrayed the role of a deserted young wife in the movie ‘Lost in Transition’ which brought out her innate acting talent to the audience. The film brought her ‘Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actress’ and ‘BAFTA Awards’ along with nominations for ‘Golden Globe Award’ and several others.

Her Hollywood career marched ahead with critics and media showering unrestrained praises on the utter simplicity with which she can whisper life in even a moronic role. She has been equally active with theaters since her first appearance in 2009.

She has been part of marketing campaigns for top notch companies like Mango Calvin Klein, L’Oréal, and Louis Vuitton. She has also featured in countless music albums too.

Personal Life

Scarlett has consistently figured in the list of sexiest women in the world. However, she has chosen to keep her personal life out of media glare. Ryan Reynolds, the Canadian moviestar came in her life in 2007 and both got married in 2008’s September.

They bought a house in close vicinity of Los Angeles, where they lived happily till their separation in 2011 over irreconcilable differences. In the absence of any pre-marriage agreement, all material belongings piled up during marriage period got divided evenly.

Scarlett prefers to brand herself as Jewish. FBI launched a probe in 2011 into hacking allegation lodged by her regarding distribution of their nude pictures.
